Isn’t it crazy how much more energy you have to workout in the summer? If you’re like me and crave those warm summer days to actually enjoy working out – I have the top fitness classes you should check out around the city this summer. The best part? They’re all free.
So, when the clock hits 5:00, be sure to leave your cubicle and soak up what’s left of the sunshine & get your sweat on with a variety of Boston's best instructors.
Sweat with a View:
Seaport Sweat is personally my favorite of the workouts offered around the city. Any chance to explore the seaport we’re down for. Each day of the work week, there’s a different type of workout – from Kick It by Eliza to Box & Body class - as well as a meditative yoga class. The Seaport Sweat series, which takes place on the Seaport Common (85 Northern Ave.) offers a variety of fitness classes with a view of the ever-changing seaport skyline. Who can pass that up? Yoga in a Park:
The Boston Common is definitely what comes to mind when you think of a workout class in the summer. You can get your zen on in Boston's most historic park every Thursday from 6-7:15pm. This free class is sponsored by the Skating Club of Boston, where experts will lead the class in a power vinyasa flow - that is for all levels & abilities. Whether you’re new to yoga or experienced at your Namaste, these classes will relax you after a long day at work. Just don’t forget to bring your yoga mat. Get FIT on the Garden:
Under Armour presents a variety of HIIT workouts on the Garden by the Pru every Wednesday from 6-7pm through August 30th this summer. These up-beat and fast-paced classes range from a HIIT bootcamp to a hybrid bootcamp & yoga class – and are guaranteed to get your heart racing. For the full schedule, check here. Yoga along the Riverfront:
To add to the growing attractions at Assembly Row, the popular eat, play, live marketplace is now offering a free yoga class every Saturday morning at 9am now through September. For you early birds out there, this is the perfect class to enjoy a peaceful morning yoga session, and maybe get a head start on that shopping list you have. Zumba on the Esplanade:
If you're looking for either an up-beat dance class or any excuse to workout along the Charles River, we have the fitness series for you! Starting July 11th, Healthy, Fit & Fun will be offering Zumba classes, as well as bootcamp classes & sunset yoga - from Tuesday's-Thursday's at 6pm. For the full line-up, check out their page here.
Tango Your Way to the Greenway:
The Rose Kennedy Greenway is the place to be when it comes to fitness classes this summer. Presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mass, there will be over 100 free classes to choose from.
